ABOUT JENNA
Biography
Jenna Dietrich is a senior from Columbia, Maryland studying Music Education and Clarinet Performance at the University of Maryland. Her main interest is instrumental music, specifically clarinet, but she also enjoys painting, photography, and music technology. She has been playing the clarinet for ten years, and enjoyed participating in a range of musical activities like jazz band, wind ensemble, pit orchestra, and other chamber groups in high school. At UMD, Jenna has participated in a variety of musical activities, even joining the Sigma Alpha Iota Professional Music Fraternity and virtually playing with the MIT wind ensemble.

Equal opportunity in the arts is extremely important to Jenna, and she has already explored ways to improve this through creating a supplemental music program for underprivileged schools during her junior year of high school. Her project involved conducting a musical instrument drive collecting a total of twenty-six instruments, providing free private lessons for elementary and middle schoolers, and creating a recruitment video to encourage students to continue band in high school.

As a College Park Arts Scholar, Jenna intends to explore her research interests through her culminating Capstone project to be completed in her sophomore year. She is excited to take full advantage of the opportunity to learn about art careers from guest artists. She also looks forward to attending field trips to explore the arts within her new community of College Park, MD.
