MUSIC IN FILM

Music has an undeniable influence on the emotions that we experience, as well as the visuals that we create in our minds.  Thus, music in movies has a multitude of effects on the audience, from simply establishing a setting for a scene, bringing continuity between scenes, advancing character or plot development, and removing ambiguity of scenes by telling you how to feel, bringing the emotional level of movies to new heights.  Throughout this workshop, we will explore a variety of genres, from classical to pop to jazz to international films and beyond, identifying the specific musical characteristics that causes it to evoke certain emotions.  At the end of the workshop, we will complete a final project that involves combining original musical compositions with either new or pre-existing film scenes.
